Thanks to Solomon's Seal

As a proud member of the Irish Registry of Herbalists I took up the challenge and entered in the annual photo competition 'Herbal Portraits.' I loved the idea of focusing on one plant over a period of five weeks and try to capture the shots that best show them in their glory.

I don't know why I chose Solomon's Seal (Polygonatum multiflorum) , maybe because I was attracted by its almost understated beauty, almost monocolor with leaves that looks like wings sometimes and then the flowers, white but almost translucent, with a lime-green inner light.

I enjoyed immensely the time I spent with my Polygonatum plants growing in my garden and I was rewarded for the efforts with the winning prize.

These are the five shots, with 'Bells of Light' being the winning photograph.
